PYP Exhibition

collaboration for an exhibition

Julie Lindsay

Looking for classrooms to collaborate with for PYP Exhibition

Hello
At Beijing (BISS) International School this year our Grade 5 students are basing their exhibition around Inventions and Inventors. We are looking for other PYP classrooms to collaborate with and create a learning community with common outcomes, maybe even a joint exhibition objective.
If you are interested in exploring this idea, please email me at school jlindsay@biss.com.cn
I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks Agnes for information regarding your exhibition plans. Not sure if you are available for collaboration?

Tod, yes, I agree, let's look at how we can 'flatten' our Grade 5 classrooms so that we work on the process together. We have set up a class educational network using ELGG (this was before Ning was unblocked) that your students are invited to join. This will foster conversation and discussion in blogs and forums. We also need to look at a collaborative authoring environment, probably a wiki, where students can share their work.
I have a meeting with the Gr 5 team tomorrow with the intention of developing a plan of approach. What about teaming students together starting now?
Thoughts?

To Julie,

my year level team had planned Technology unit as our PYP theme..so that we collaborate most of lesson to make this PYP successful (especially we don't our kids got many work to do)...we use ICT (information and technology) as our research class. they need to find information which can answer 6basic question (5W + 1H). their information is about their chosen technology. during the PYP preparation, we use IS (integrated studies), English, and Bahasa (national language) as for processing information class. at the end (means "PYP exhibition" aka the D-day), they will exhibition individual explanatory writing (both in English and Bahasa which have different type of presentation) and groups presentation (performance using math, languange, and performance art presentation).
the individual project is their own future invention. they will make a new invention based on technology which was invented before.

our team is still in progress preparing our kids exhibition..hope that this little information can help u ..

Good Luck,

Hi Julie,

As you know, our schools have been collaborating on Exhibitions for at least three years now. I'm very eager to continue our relationship. In the past we've visited each other for the Exhibition. But it's just been a one-day event for each school. I want to see us sharing our Exhibition experiences as they develop. Let's not just showcase our work at the end. Let's work together on the process as well.

What are your thoughts?

Best,

Tod
