So is here, Antoinette.
The PYP coordinator only observes the process and gives her feedback to the teachers at the end of the Exhibition - in addition to the mentors'.
Just a quick question - are only the PYP and MYP coordinators responsible for the assessment of student work? Here it is the responsibility of the Gr. 6 class teachers. Any thoughts on that?
Antoinette
Truth be told, this is a rubric I inherited so I'm not sure how well it works. Since ultimately it is very difficult to think of something truly original. I think I will judge their originality based on how they use their research.
Just one more question. There is the mark of "originality" in the rubric you posted. How can you assess that? How can you be sure a student did not use an idea/concept that he/she encountered throughout the research process? So, I am not questioning the ownership per se, but the ability to pinpoint it and assess it.
Thank you.
Thank you again. *read it*.
I think I will use a different approach. Since students are very tired on the Exhibition day and , as you noticed, find it hard to be assessed due to the noise or other disturbing factors, I will take pictures of each display/stand and have it assessed the next day. The students will do some independent reading (or another activity) and I will discuss individually, with each student, having the laptop (with their pictures) before us. We review together each piece of the stand an the discussion will flow with no other pressure.
What do you think?
It would be of great help to attach it here instead of e-mailing it to the group only. I think these walls should become transparent - after all, we all teach students and want to do our best.
Thank you.
